Recession-Proof Poison
Despite extremely weak retail conditions, net income for Krispy Kreme, purveyors of the sugar, starch, and fat triple terror glazed donut, soared by close to 50% in the first quarter of 2003. Roughly 90% of Krispy Kreme's sales come from its incredibly calorie-dense donuts. Is it any surprise that Americans keep getting fatter and fatter?
