Atkins Mania Reaches a Fever Pitch

McDonald's is hawking hamburgers without the bun, Skippy is rolling out a low-carb peanut butter, and there is even an Atkins-friendly version of Doritoes in the works. The problem with all these low-carb, high-fat foods? They are all junky and bad for you!!! Gullible dieters that want to join the Atkins bandwagon should remember the low-fat, high-carb boom of the early 1990's. Dieters were scarfing down fat-free cookies and cakes, and surprise, surprise, were steadily getting fatter. Substitute low-carb for low-fat, and we are in the same position in 2004. Successful dieting requires eating less and exercising more. You simply cannot eat whatever you want, now matter how low-carb or low-fat it is. Think about that the next time you reach for a low-carb candy bar.
