U.S. Finally Bans Ephedra
The Bush Administration has given the American dieting public a potentially life-saving gift in 2004: banning the sale of the dangerous supplement ephedra. Ephedra has been linked to 155 deaths in the U.S., most notably major league baseball player Steve Bechler. Three states, Illinois, California, and yes, New York!, had previously passed ephedra bans. It should be noted that ephedra is not the only potentially dangerous supplement on the market. The supplement industry remains largely unregulated; a haven for hucksters promising quick weight loss for a fast buck. Why empty your wallet and play russian roulette with your health?
