The Pizzaman Always Rings Twice
I was watching television Wednesday when I was interrupted by the sound of my doorbell. I wasn't expecting anybody, so I gingerly opened the door. A delivery man bearing pizza was waiting for me to pay him. The only problem is that I never ordered the pizza. I told him that he had the wrong apartment and went back to the rain-delayed U.S. Open Tennis coverage on my TiVo. Five minutes later, the doorbell rang again. For the second time, I patiently explained that I did not order the pizza. But the deliveryman just handed me the pizza and said it was free of charge. Great, I thought, I had just finished a nice healthy chicken salad, and the last thing I needed to do was binge on pizza. Nevertheless, I opened the box to get a closer view. The sight of a thick layer of grease swimming on the top of the pizza completely eradicated any desire I might have had to start chowing down. This would certainly not have been the case five years ago. Moral of the story: Burn all your takeout menus! If you are still hungry after dinner, have a nice piece of fruit. Your body will thank you in the morning.
