Make Your Cheating Count
A couple of weeks ago, I threw a surprise Law School Graduation party for a close friend. I bought a beautiful, sinfully rich, chocolate cake with mocha buttercream icing from the fabulous Cupcake Cafe bakery on 39th and 9th avenue. So, did I deny myself a piece of this beautiful, but deadly, confection? As one of my favorite disco divas, Deborah Cox would belt out: AB-SOLUTE-LY, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! In fact, I had two pieces.
Successful dieting is not all about denial. Trust me, you will not lose weight any faster by becoming a martyr. Instead, you will likely increase the odds of succumbing to an out of control eating binge. Treat yourself to a little something special every now and then. But, remember now and then should mean about once a week, not five times a day. Just make your cheat count. The once-in-a-blue-moon Cupcake Cafe sugar fantasy qualifies. A Snickers bar out of your office vending machine certainly does not.
The Chocolate-Mocha Masterpiece the day after the party. It went into the garbage can, not on my waistline!
