Why Smart Start is the Wrong Start
There is nothing more enjoyable than starting a lazy Saturday or Sunday morning with a nice bowl of cereal. Unfortunately, many cereals that are advertised and promoted to be healthy and nutritious are loaded with sugar and fat. Kelloggs Smart Start is probably one of the most egregious examples. Touted as a healthy way to start your day, Smart Start has a whopping 15 grams of sugar per serving. By comparison, regular Cheerios have only 1 gram of sugar per serving. Even better, Post Shredded Wheat, my favorite cereal, has 0 grams of sugar per serving. More importantly, Shredded Wheat is loaded with fiber, filling me up without weighing me down. If you start your morning with sugary Smart Start, you will likely be craving sugary, fatty junk for the rest of the day. To steal a line from our beloved and alleged insider trader, Martha Stewart, this would not be a good thing!
