Fat Family Dining
Last month, a couple of friends and I piled into a car to go discount shopping at a Target in New Jersey. It was an incredibly fun road trip. Non-New Yorkers may not be able to relate, but riding in a car on the weekend to go shopping is definitely a rare treat for me. Following our shopping excursion, the four of us were feeling quite hungry so we decided to stop at a Ruby Tuesday nearby. There was literally not ONE ITEM on the menu at this family restaurant that was not either breaded, fried, or cheesed, or a combination of the three. Needless to say, we all chose the Salad Bar. All around us, young families were hungrily devouring piles of lard-encrusted hamburgers, cheese steaks, french fries, onion rings, etc. Is it really such a mystery that Americans keep getting fatter and fatter?
